In 2015 Cubit, the specialty label for modular furniture, launched a modular sofa system to accompany the Cubit shelving system that was introduced back in 2007.

The concept of industrial designer Olaf Schroeder invokes the basic criteria that define Cubit products: outstanding functionality, material quality and aesthetics. For this Cubit product line, too, the purist design renders possible a variety that is, however, never arbitrary. The Cubit sofa is produced exclusively at sites in Germany; it is suitable for both private and public spaces.

With a keen eye for detail Olaf Schroeder has given the furniture a strong silhouette. The circumferential piping, for example, is carefully flattened at the corners – it subtly transforms the slanting edge of the cover into a design element. The underside of each module is inclined inwards slightly so that its actual lightness is also visually communicated.
